Eric and Shaylee met when they were just 13 years old at a Halloween event at their church's youth group. Although they had a few mutual friends, they rarely crossed paths over the years. In the summer of 2018, Eric came back home from UBC and messaged Shaylee. For their first time reuniting, which they now count as their first date, Eric invited Shaylee out to a Cake Walk Fundraiser at his mother's school.

Together they enjoyed catching up, getting to know each other, sharing a few laughs and an entire cake to themselves. They quickly found it was easy to talk and enjoyed each others' company and soon began dating.

After almost 5 years of dating, on a warm August evening, Eric proposed to Shaylee at Kwomais Point Park; a favorite place of the two of them. During Covid they shared fond memories of bringing Shaylee's beloved dogs Jacob and Daisy there for walks and enjoyed picnic lunches in the Sun.

They now co-own a cozy condo in White Rock with their needy but sweet cat Sinatra.
